Magnesium Oxide Industry Application-1
Magnesium oxide (MgO) possesses properties such as a high melting point (approximately 2852℃), good chemical stability, alkali resistance, strong electrical insulation, and excellent thermal conductivity, making it widely used in various fields. According to the latest publicly available data (as of 2026), its main industrial applications are as follows:
1.Refractory Materials
High-Temperature Furnace Linings and Crucibles: Used for lining furnaces in the steel, glass, and cement industries, withstanding extreme high-temperature environments.
Refractory Bricks and Boards: As a key component, enhancing the material's thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance.
2. Metallurgical Industry
Steelmaking Furnace Linings: Protect the furnace body from corrosion by molten metal and slag.
Desulfurizing and Dephosphorizing Agents: Remove sulfur and phosphorus impurities from molten steel, improving steel purity.
Fluoride: Generates easily separable slag in magnesium alloy and aluminum alloy smelting, preventing metal oxidation.
3. Electronics and Ceramics Industry
Ceramic Substrates: Thermal conductivity more than twice that of alumina, electrolyte loss only 1/10, suitable for high-power electronic devices.
Electronic Component Insulation Materials: Used in resistors, capacitors, etc.
High-Performance Ceramics: Such as transparent ceramics, high-temperature superconducting ceramics, magnesium oxide thin films, etc.
4. Chemical Industry
Catalyst Supports: Due to their high specific surface area, used in petroleum refining, ammonia synthesis, and other reactions.
Flue Gas Desulfurization: Absorbs SO₂, reducing acid rain pollution.
Preparation of Magnesium Chemicals: Such as magnesium salts, magnesium fluoride, magnesium hydroxide, etc.
